Custom Deck Building in Akron, OH

New deck construction from design through final inspection. Fixed written quote, permits handled, 10-year workmanship warranty.

A new deck is the fastest way to add usable living space to a Northeast Ohio home, and the difference between a deck that lasts 25 years and one that heaves, sags, and rots by year eight comes down to how it's built, not what it's built from. DeckRescue Pros builds new custom decks in Akron and the surrounding communities the right way: engineered footings below the frost line, correctly flashed ledgers, code-spaced joists, and a municipal inspector's signature before we call it done.

What's Included in Every New Deck Build

Deck Styles We Build

Single-Level Decks

The workhorse: a 12x16 to 16x20 platform off the kitchen or family room. The most deck for the money and the fastest build, typically 3–4 days on site.

Multi-Level & Tiered Decks

Northeast Ohio yards are rarely flat. Tiered decks step down a sloped lot gracefully, define separate zones for dining and lounging, and often eliminate the need for long stair runs.

Second-Story Decks

Walk-out builds off an upper level, common in split-levels and newer colonials around Stow, Hudson, and Green. These demand serious structural posts and beam sizing, which is exactly where hiring a builder who does the engineering matters most.

Wraparound & Custom Shapes

Octagonal bump-outs, angled corners, picture-frame borders, built-in benches and planters. If you can sketch it on a napkin, we can frame it.

Material Choices for a New Deck

Most of our Akron-area clients choose between composite decking (Trex, TimberTech, Deckorators) for zero-maintenance longevity, and pressure-treated or cedar for maximum square footage per dollar. There's no wrong answer, only the right answer for your budget and your appetite for re-sealing wood every couple of years. Our composite vs. wood comparison lays out the real 10-year cost for Ohio's climate, and our pricing page shows ranges by deck size.

Where We Build New Decks

We build throughout Summit, Medina, Stark, and Portage counties, including Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson, Medina, Brunswick, Green, North Canton, and Wadsworth.

New Deck FAQs

Can you build a deck in winter in Ohio?

Yes. Footings can be poured year-round with cold-weather concrete practices, and framing goes up in any dry weather. Winter builds often mean faster permits and first pick of the schedule, and you're grilling on it by the first warm weekend of spring.

Can you build a new deck over my existing concrete patio?

Usually, yes. If the slab is sound we can build a low-profile floating deck over it. If the deck attaches to the house or exceeds 30 inches in height, it still needs perimeter footings and a permit.

How big a deck can I build without a permit?

In most Northeast Ohio municipalities, a freestanding deck under 30 inches above grade and not attached to the house can go up without a permit, but Akron, Stow, and Hudson each apply the rules differently. We confirm with your building department before we quote, so you never guess.
